Somewhere over pacific thinking about south america

Location: Océan Pacifique
Now I'm leaving South America after 2 month and half here!!!
After going through a lot of problem because of my flight beeing cancel, I finally finish my trip by a flight from auckland to sydney in first class in a A380... :)

a very good meal, a crazy massage seat, a bar area with sofa and free champagne... what else ?

As conclusion, in south america I've seen soooo many different thing, meet a lot of very nice people, and had some very nice time here!!!
I would say the best landscapes are in Peru, Bolivia, and Patagonia.
In Peru people are veeeeery nice and there is so much varieties of landscapes
I didn't see a lot of Brazil but enough to know that I want to come back here.
and I definetly have yo come back in Patagonia with more time to do some very big trek and see more of this beautiful area!!!
I will definitely have to come back around to visit or revisit different place. Each one for different reason, the Amazonia part of Peru, all brasil and especially Salvador and come back in Rio, Patagonia, all countries up north...

But now it's time to look to the other side of pacific as Australia is waiting for me!!

In santiago

Location: Santiago du Chili, Chili
Ok... now its time for my last destination in South America, Santiago de Chile.
The city is nice but nothing special; there is some nice building, and some nice viewpoint.

One cool thing about Santiago is that in one hour or two, you can get to the ocean or to the mountains!!!
I went to a small city called Valparaiso, a very beautiful old city just next to the ocean with a very nice architecture. For those that were in high school with me, that's the town of Pablo Neruda, there is his house and a museum dedicated to him!!!

There is also some beaches to relax, but the water is very cold!!

Just next to the city you also can go for a walk in the mountains (you can ski in winter) we went in canyon del maipu, for a small walk and the place is very beautiful, but nothing special. It look like south of france, it smell like in the "Provence".

Chile is also a big producer of wine, so I went to visit a big winery close to Santiago

So Santiago is nice city, with a lot of possibilities of outside activity very close, but I didn't find anything special about this city!!

Come back in chile !!!

Location: Punta Arenas, Chili
Well now Argentina is done, I went from Ushuaia to Punta Arenas. Just hopping I won't have the same problem as my last time in Chile ...
Until now everything is fine, but there is not much time left in Patagonia, as I had to take a bus during the whole day to reach Punta Arenas. There is only on day left...
I spend the whole day in the national park of Torres del Paine, and it was amazing!!!!!!! This place is sooo beautiful!!! I would love to have more time here to do a big trek over many days in here

The place where I took this photosynth was under ice like 10 or 20 years ago..... It’s scary how fast it melt :( the glacier lose around 100m every years!!!!!!

Except this perfect day, I didn't see a lot of Punta Arenas, but the little I saw wasn't very nice.... just a basic city.....

At the end of the world

Location: Ushuaïa, Terre de Feu, Argentine
Last destination in Argentina, Ushuaia. The southernmost city in the world!!!
As soon as we arrived in the city, I loved it!!! It's a small city in the middle of mountains. It's very touristic but very nice.

Sadly we didn't stay very long in here. First day we went to an island full of penguins to walk a bit in the middle of them. It was awesome, there are soooo cute!!!! I want a penguin as pet!!

The next day we went for a walk in the national park, it was a very nice day.

In Ushuaia you can't trust the weather it changes always and very very fast. During the day in the national park the weather change like more than 10 times between raining and very sunny without any cloud.... very disturbing...
Anyway....I loved this city!!!

In the middle of the Ice

Location: El Calafate, Argentine
Now it’s time to go south, we stayed in El Calafate for few Days to visit the Glacier around.
The city is very touristic and there is way too much French people, I think there was like 50% of French tourist here. But I like the city, It look like a ski resort village in the alps, it reminded me some good memories!!

First day we went on the biggest Glacier of the area, to do Ice climbing and it was an amazing day!!
The Glacier is not very touristic so there was almost nobody that was cool, and unlike everything that I’ve done in South America before, the place was very clean, there wasn’t any waste left there by bad tourist!!

We start the day by a boat trip to go to the Glacier, we had a very nice view.
Then we put on crampon and start walking on the ice. we climb a bit on a ice wall from the bottom of a small crevasse, it was very cool !!

Then we had a walk on the Glacier to get some very nice view. And a small stop to take a baileys on the Rock with some Icecube about 60 000 year old!!

The second day here we did the most touristic part of the area, the Perito Moreno glacier,

And The last day we just relax and stay in the city… :D

In Uruguay

Location: Colonia, Uruguay
Before leaving Buenos Aires we decided to spend one day in Colonia, a small town in Uruguay. We went there by boat for a day, and it was very nice. It’s a very old little village with beautiful street, and a beach… very nice to spend a day there!!!

In Buenos aires

Location: Buenos Aires, Argentine
When we arrived in Buenos Aires first thing I’ve noticed, is that all the street are uuuuuuuuge !! There is a lot of very large street it seems that there is not a lot of problem with the traffic unlike all other big cities.

We stay few days in Buenos Aires to visit the city. The architecture in here is very nice, and very European. A lot of building was exactly like in Paris or other European cities.

We also visit the district of Boca, which is very nice and colorful.

You can’t go to Buenos Aires without going to a Tango show…. So we went in Café Tortoni, a very old and famous place in Buenos Aires to see a show, and it was really cool!!!

A lot of people told us to go to Tigre, in north of Buenos Aires…. So we went there…
And well, it was a nice experience, but not really nice place for tourist. It’s more like week-end destination for all family living in Buenos Aires. Exactly like people living in Montreal go to there chalet in the Laurentides, Buenos Aires families go to there house in Tigre.
There is a lot of river in the area, we did a little boat trip around to see what it looks like, and well all along the river there is houses with people relaxing and enjoying every kind of water activity in the (very dirty) river.

As conclusion, Buenos Aires is very nice city, I really like in here. The only bad point in here is that people here are not very polite; sometimes it can be very annoying… except that, this city is perfect

In iguazu falls !!

Location: Iguazú, Argentine
After a small stop in São Paulo, and 15h in a bus... we arrive in Iguaçu!!!
Just the time to put all our stuff in the hostel, and w leave to go to the Brazilian side of Iguaçu falls.

First impression... it's huge!!! We walked along the water falls and went on a small platform in the middle of the falls, with amazing view!!!
There were a lot of clouds that's a bit sad for the photos, but at least we didn't get any rain :)

The next day we had to cross the border and go to the Argentina side of the falls.
But when we wake up..... bad news, it was raining like crazy and it was going to be like that all day...
So we dressed up correctly.......

....And went outside to take the bus to Argentina
It was raining too much to see correctly the falls so we stayed at the hostel for the day, and went in the falls the next day...

Next day was better, still a lot of cloud, but almost no rain, and some sun 

So we visit all the Argentina side, that is bigger that the Brazilian side, and really amazing too !!!

In sao paulo !!

Location: São Paulo, Brésil
I arrived in Sao Paulo in the morning, I directly went to the airport to pick up my sister, and then we had three days to visit the city as much as possible.

We visit the centre that was nice, and some cool street, and very big park. That's funny that they have there own empire state building (Banespa building with a nice view on all the city) and there own central park (Ibirapuera park)

And after this small stop in this big city (ugly and dirty as my sister said), it was time to take a bus to go to Iguazu falls!!

In Rio !!!

Location: Rio de Janeiro, Brésil
After a very nice month in Peru and the time to get my ups I finally went in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil...
A very long trip by plan to Sao Paulo, with a stop at Santiago. Few hours in Sao Paulo and a bus to Rio.
During the few hours in Sao Paulo someone try to stole my iPhone, I had just enough reflex to avoid the thief. After that I didn't use a lot my iPhone to be sure that it won't happen again. That's why I didn't take a lot of picture in Rio.
So after this long trip I finally manage to get in Rio.
I didn't get lucky with the hostels the first one was in the middle of a favela, the second was the worst hostel ever, very very very dirty and bad staff... and as it was a long holiday weekend all other hotel was full... until I finally find one very good with some very nice roommates :)

AAs for Rio it's a nice city, I visit the most touristic stuff like the Corcovado, Santa Theresa, the cathedral, the place where there is the carnivals.... it was very nice. But because of the bad weather on the last days, I missed the sugar loaf … it will make a good excuse to come back here ;)

I was staying in ipanema so I had a great time on the beach. Swimming in very nice water, lying down on the sand, doing some slackline between palm-trees on the beach during the sunset, playing volleyball.... very nice :)

I also enjoyed a lot the nightlife in Rio, I had some very nice party all night long, meeting some very nice guy!!
But after one week in Rio, it was already time to move on to the next step.... would like to have more time in Rio, and visit some other cities in Brazil like Salvador or other cities more north.
Anyway, it was time to take the bus back to Sao Paulo....

Retour a lima

A Trujilo

Location: Trujillo, Pérou
Dernière destination au Pérou... Trujillo !!

A iiiiiiiiiiiicaa !!
